Besiktas star Cyle Larin on the up - Now third most valuable Canadian

Canadian national team striker Cyle Larin is one of the biggest winners of the recent Transfermarkt Süper Lig market value update. The 25-year-old Besiktas striker saw his market value grow from €5.5 million to €9 million, ranking him among the ten most valuable Turkish Süper Lig players. 

On loan at Zulte-Waregem in Belgium last season, Larin scored seven goals and ten assists in the Jupiler Pro League. "Larin has developed well in Belgium," Turkey Area Manager Gökhan Yagmur said. "He was pretty good at the start of the season and has since gotten better every single week. Larin and [Vincent] Aboubakar are a fantastic duo in the attack." 

 

Indeed, Larin's output has improved significantly after he returned to the Süper Lig. This season the 25-year-old Canadian has scored 14 goals and four assists in 24 Süper Lig games. Larin is one of the main reasons for Besiktas' fantastic season. The Black Eagles have been soaring to the top of the table, and with one game in hand are two points clear of Galatasaray at the top of the table.

Larin's new market value also has an impact on the Canadian national team. The 25-year-old is now the third most valuable Canadian national team player behind Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies and LOSC Lille striker Jonathan David. Larin also cements his position as the second most valuable Canadian forward and now ranks €4.5 million above Lucas Cavallini. David remains at the top of that ranking with a market value of €30 million. 

The Besiktas star will, however, have an opportunity to improve his ranking further. "There is certainly a market for him," Yagmur said. "I don't think Besiktas will sell him as they will be in the Champions League next season, which will only further improve his standing in the market." Yagmur is certain that clubs will try to come for Larin this summer even if Besiktas are reluctant to sell. "Certainly, he is young and a national team player."
