Douglas Costa joins Grêmio - Loan deal from Juventus now official

Juventus have loaned Douglas Costa to Brazilian side Grêmio. The Italian Serie A side announced the deal on Friday afternoon. Douglas Costa spent the 2020/21 season on loan at Bayern Munich where he managed 693 minutes spread out over 20 appearances (one goal and three assists). It was Douglas Costa's second stint at the German Rekordmeister; Bayern had previously bought the winger for €30 million from Shakhtar Donetsk before selling him to Juventus in 2018 for €40 million. 

Bayern Munich officially bid farewell to the Brazilian winger on Friday morning. "Douglas Costa and Tiago Dantas have won the German championship with us this season," Hasan Salihamidzic said in an official statement published by the club that also addressed Tiago Dantas' departure. "We would like to express our sincere thanks to both of them and wish them all the best for the future."

For Douglas Costa, who earned €11 million at his time at Bayern, it is a return to his roots. From 2008 to 2009, the now 30-year-old managed 30 appearances for the club (two goals and six assists) before being sold for €8 million to Shakhtar. Altogether Douglas Costa has accumulated €84.25 million in transfer fees.
