Grêmio winger Pepê joins Porto - Fourth most expensive signing in club history
Last year, Pepê attracted the interest of Bayern Munich, among other clubs. However, the 23-year-old winger will not be moving to the Bundesliga. As reported by L’Équipe, Grêmio agreed to sell the Brazilian to Portuguese titleholders FC Porto next summer after weeks of negotiations.
According to the report, Pepê, who still has a contract running until 2024, will cost €15 million. In addition, Grêmio would receive a 12.5% stake in case of a resale. With this transfer fee, he would become the fourth most expensive signing in the history of the Liga NOS club.
The winger has been directly involved in 15 goals in 33 matches this season. As a Brazil U23 international, Pepê also played his way into the notebooks of Roma and Ajax during the Olympic qualifiers in early 2020. That it ultimately became Porto is no coincidence – the club is the place to go for Brazilian footballers in Europe. As of today, Pepê would be the 122nd Brazilian at the Dragões.
