Inter Miami CF take Robbie Robinson with the number 1 pick
Inter Miami CF have taken Robbie Robinson from Clemson University. A 6 foot 2 striker, Robinson exploded on the College scene last season scoring 18 goals and nine assists in 19 games in 2019.
A strong performance that earned Robinson the 2019 MAC Hermann Trophy, the award given to the best college player of a season, and the ACC Offensive Player of the Year. Remarkable given that Robinson struggled with injuries throughout 2018.
The now 21-year-old led Clemson to an 18-2-2 record in 2019. Miami have already signed three strikers in Julián Carranza, Juan Agudelo, and Jerome Kiesewetter.
New head coach Diego Alonso favors a 4-2-3-1 formation and with the club spending $6.16 million on forward Carranza. As a result, Robinson will not be expected to carry the load and rather be a rotational player in his first year.
