Manchester City sign Kayky from Fluminense - Financial details revealed
Manchester City have confirmed the transfer of super talent Kayky from Fluminense. The winger is currently under contract until the end of the 2022 season but will leave his club one year earlier. Manchester City confirmed on Friday that the 17-year-old would join his new club after the end of the current season and arrive in England on Jan. 1, 2022. Underaged players are not allowed to move to England, and Kayky does not turn 18 until June.
There have been exaggerated reports about Kayky's fee. Brazilian media speculated that the player would cost in the region of R$174 million (€26 million). Several sources have reported that Man City will pay at least €10 million, plus performance-based bonuses (Globo Esporte reported that Fluminense could earn €16 million on top of the original fee). Fluminense will also receive 20% of any future transfer. The contract will run for five years.
Man City and Fluminense have also agreed on a cooperation agreement. That deal will be announced soon.
