Top talents for the City Group: Rosa joins Lommel - Kayky to sign soon

The City Group—a consortium that owns several teams worldwide, including Manchester City—has signed two Brazilian top talents. In the summer of 2020, Globo Esporte reported that Diego Rosa would join the City Group; the 18-year-old tweeted a picture of himself wearing a Lommel SK shirt earlier. Journalist Fabrizio Romano, in the meantime, reported that 17-year-old Fluminense talent Kayky would be signed by the City Group as well. 

Globo also confirmed Rosa's transfer to Lommel. According to the outlet, the U20 national team player has signed a contract until June 2025. Grêmio will at first receive €6 million for their player, who never played for the first team. Thanks to performance-based bonuses, the deal could grow to €23.5 million. Those bonuses can be hit when Rosa is registered for Man City's Premier League squad or after a certain amount of Lommel games. "Today begins a new phase in my life," Rosa wrote on Twitter on Monday. "I want to thank the City Group for their trust and Lommel SK for opening the door. I promise to defend and always give my best while I am here. It is an honor to wear those colors." 

Kayky also headed to Man City & the City Group: Fee €17m

Romano reported that Kayky would join for an initial fee of €10 million, which can rise to €17 million. The City Group is in the final stages of negotiating a deal with Fluminense. One problem is the work permit in the United Kingdom. Following Brexit, foreign U18 players are no longer permitted to join English clubs. Kayky will turn 18 on Jun. 11, 2021. The work permit is also contingent on other parameters. But sources suggest that a transfer will not be completed until 2022.

Should Kayky not receive a work permit in England, Man City could loan the player—like it has been the case with Rosa—to another club that is part of the City Group. Aside from Man City and Lommel, the City Group owns or cooperates with New York City FC, Melbourne City FC, Montevideo City Torque, Sichuan Jiuniu, Girona, Yokohama F. Marinos, and Mumbai City FC.
