Market values Hungary: Ferencváros with record value thanks to Nguen & Co - Dzsudzsák down
Budapest-based Fernecváros are the biggest winners in the intermediary market value update of the Nemzeti Bajnokság. The champions and current table leaders are the first club from Hungary to reach the Champions League group stage since the 2009/10 season. The club managed to increase its squad value by €4.4 million to €28.65 million. Since the start of market value evaluations for Hungary in 2004, no Hungarian club had a higher squad value.
Altogether, 12 Fradi players saw their market value increase; the biggest winner was striker Tokmac Chol Nguen. Born in a refugee camp in Kenia to parents from South-Sudan, Nguen arrived as a five-year-old in Norway and will soon make his debut for the Scandinavians.
The striker has not just impressed in the Hungarian league, but his three goals in five qualification games were a major reason that his club qualified for the group stage of the Champions League. The market value of the 27-year-old rises by €1.4 million to €2.5 million, which makes him the most valuable player in the league. The second place is shared by his teammates Dénes Dibusz (+0.8m), Miha Blazic (+€0.4m), and Oleksandr Zubkov; all three are worth €2 million.
Among the biggest losers is Alexandru Baluta. The player joined Puskás Akadémia FC from Slavia Praha for €700,000 and because of the transfer fee and the status lost by moving to a smaller league saw his market value drop from €2 million to €1.4 million. Márton Eppel also saw his market value drop. The Honvéd FC forward tried to find a club in Western Europe but remained in Hungary and, as a result, saw his market value drop from €1.4 million to €900,000.
A returnee with a big name is the biggest loser in the Nemzeti Bajnokság II. (second division), which was also updated. Record national team player Balázs Dzsudzsák returned to his home country after playing the last four years in the United Arab Emirates and joined his youth club Debreceni VSC, who were relegated last season. Despite dropping by €600,000, he remains the most valuable player in the league, with a market value of €1 million.
